Mount Horeb, Wisconsin - Highway 78/92 Intersection
This constrained urban roundabout posed significant design challenges with horizontal constraints on all four corners and vertical profile challenges. The roundabout opened May 30, 2004 and has yet to have a single crash.
The roundabout serves at the gateway to the the downtown 'Main' Street and provides smooth, efficient traffic flow, and excellent business access, it is currently carrying ~1,800 vph and the design hour volumes are 2,800vph with 7% heavy trucks.
This roundabout was so well received that Village is presently planning 4 more along the same roadway.
