MLK Roundabout, City of Springfield OR

Springfield, OR: State of Oregon's First Urban Multi-Lane Roundabout (5,700 VPH Design Year Flow)

MTJ Engineering provided capacity analysis and final horizontal design recommendations, and signing and field marking layout services to the City for this challenging and constrained urban re-construct project.

The roundabout alternative saved the cost of an expensive bridge while also providing significant capacity improvements (an excellent example of placing capacity where it is needed while maintaining narrow roads).

This project included provisions for bus rapid transit, a fifth leg serving access to residential neighborhoods. This roundabout opened in 2006.
